Thanks for visiting!
Braintree Rays Baseball Club was originally formed in the mid 1980's and there are still several players from that era in the club. We moved to the nearby town of Tiptree for a few years in the 1990's and enjoying some success including a 12-0 record in BBF Division 3 South. In the early part of this decade we took several seasons out of competitive leagues but we've been back playing in Braintree since 2006 and we currently have one senior team, fielding players from across Essex, Suffolk, East Cambridgeshire, East Hertfordshire & London.
We compete in the British Baseball Federation “A” Division with eight other teams, playing through late April to mid August on a single game Sunday league basis. Our home games are played at Notley Sports Centre on the south west of Braintree and our away games this season have been as far away as Bracknell, Guildford and North London.
The Club is committed to offering competitive baseball to as wide a range of people as possible. Men or women aged from 15 can play for our senior team and we are working with Notley Sports Centre & Braintree District Council’s Sports Development Officer to promote baseball to the next generation and hope that within two years we will have been able to form a junior team, as existed within the club in the 1980’s.
